Township To Sell Land Near Marmion Field

Upper St. Clair will receive $280,500 for five-plus acres.

Several acres of undeveloped Upper St. Clair Township property are going to a new owner.

Township commissioners will vote Monday on approving the sale of land off Morrow Road, near the Marmion Field athletic complex. The five-acre plot has not been developed because of its steep grade.

The sale price is $56,100 per acre, for a total of approximately $280,500. That represents 85 percent of the appraised value and represented the minimum acceptable bid amount per township specifications, according to Matthew Serakowski, township manager.

The buyer is Gabe Hudock of Peters Township, who submitted the lone bid.

The township acquired 11.5 acres in 1975, with part of the tract going for the development of athletic fields. Several years ago, the township was approached by the owner of land adjacent to the undeveloped property about selling it. Although the parcel was offered for public sale at that time, no bids were received.

Following an updated appraisal, the land was offered for sale again this year.
