Poll: Do You Support the Rezoning of the Former Consol Site?

The commissioners voted in favor of allowing a mixed-use development to be built on the corner of Washington and Fort Couch Roads. Are you happy with their decision?

to allow a mix of retail and residential development on the corner of Washington and Fort Couch Roads.

Some of commissioners expressed their support for the text amendment because it requires the developer to submit a master plan that must get approved by the planning commissioner and board of commissioners—giving the township some control of the development.

About 100 residents who were mainly against the rezoning attended the Oct. 3 hearing. Their main concerns were traffic, increased crime and the possibility of big box stores being built.

Now that it's been nearly two weeks, we want to know how you are feeling about the decision. Take our poll below. You can expand on your answer in the comments box at the bottom.

The questions on this poll are not in line with the situation. I don't think the issue is whether people are looking forward to the corner being developed versus no it was a bad decision. Rather, people are concerned that the decision does not specify what the development will be or require anything in particular. That is the issue and Becky knows that. I question why the poll would be phrased in such a way. Instead, one of the option should be "should the commissioners have given the developer so much control in developing the area without restrictions. That is he issue.

Why is the developer allowed to put a big orange fence along the property line without a permit. I guess the answer to Mike's question is yes, the developer can do whatever, whenever he wants and nobody says anything. Nice reporting Patch.
