The rising number of pickleball players in Upper St. Clair will soon have a place to compete.
Thanks to a group of citizens who requested pickleball courts in Upper St. Clair at the Parks and Recreation Board meeting in August, township officials have come up with an inexpensive way to create an area to play.
Permanent lines will be drawn on the two existing tennis courts at Baker Park in the next two weeks. However, the tennis nets will be a little higher than official pickleball nets.
There are lights at the Baker Park courts.
Pickleball is a combination of tennis, badminton, ping pong and racquetball—and is for players of all ages. It's the most popular sport in the Upper St. Clair High School gym classes and it's also offered as a monthly clinic to the 50 and above crowd at the Upper St. Clair Community and Recreation Center.
