Maher Loses Auditor General Race, Will Remain State Representative

The race was not decided until midnight.

State Rep. John Maher (R-Upper St. Clair) will continue to represent the 40th Legislative District after losing the race for state auditor general.

Maher lost in a very close race to Democrat Eugene DePasquale. In his concession speech at midnight, Maher said the 500,000 votes in Philadelphia for DePasquale is what really hurt him.

Maher thanked his supporters.

"I'm very proud of what we have accomplished," he said. "My service will continue."

While running for auditor general, Maher also was running unopposed for his current seat as representative of the 40th Legislative District.
