I-79 Single Lane Traffic Taking Place Nightly This Week

The lane closures will occur overnight.

There will be overnight single lane traffic on I-79 in and and South Fayette townships will continue this week Nov. 1 through Nov. 3, weather permitting.

Crews will be sawing and sealing the roadway. Single lane traffic will occur in both directions from Washington County to half a mile north of the Bridgeville interchange (Exit 54) from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday nights. Single lane traffic in the three-lane section will not begin until 9 p.m.

The $2.6 million project includes repairs on three bridges, overlays, joint sealing, concrete roadway patching, sign and guiderail upgrades and other improvements on 3.7 miles of I-79 from Washington County to half a mile north of the Bridgeville interchange (Exit 54). Swank Construction Company, LLC of New Kensington, PA is the prime contractor. Overall work will conclude in summer 2012.
