I-79 Roadwork Continues This Weekend

Motorists should expect heavy delays near the Bridgeville exit.

Here we go again.

Work will continue this weekend on Interstate 79 between the Washington County line and Bridgeville exit. Single-lane restrictions begin at 7 p.m. Friday and will continue until 11 a.m. Sunday.

The restrictions over the past two weekends . The state Department of Transportation is urging people to find alternate routes to avoid the construction.

Meanwhile, the work on that 3.7-mile stretch of interstate will continue weeknights from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m.

will upgrade signs and guardrails, patch parts of the concrete roadway and repair three overpass bridges that cross the interstate in that area.

Construction crews will begin work Friday at 7 p.m. when northbound traffic is reduced to one lane. PennDOT said overnight and weekend restrictions will continue through November.

There will also be weekend work on Route 50 near Great Southern Shopping Center. There will be additional work on the westbound side of the bridge in Heidelberg that carries traffic over Chartiers Creek to the intersection with Hope Hollow Road and Carothers Avenue.
