Expect Delays on I-79 and Route 50

Crews will be doing weekend work on both major roadways.

PennDOT is urging motorists to be patient this weekend as construction continues on Route 50 and Interstate 79.

Workers will be on Route 50 from Bower Hill Road in Bridgeville all the way to Boden Avenue in Carnegie patching concrete, rebuilding inlets and replacing curbs. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in both directions while work is done from 8 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday.

Meanwhile, work will continue on Interstate 79 near the Bridgeville exit. Only one lane of traffic will be open in both directions from the Washington County line to Bridgeville from 7 p.m. Friday until 11 a.m. Sunday.

“Motorists should expect significant delays,” PennDOT said in a news release.

Also, the ramp to northbound I-79 from eastbound Millers Run Road will be closed starting Oct. 3.

The restrictions over the past two weekends . The state Department of Transportation is urging people to find alternate routes to avoid the construction.
