Bars Owe Alcohol Taxes to Allegheny County

Two closed Bethel Park establishments are on a delinquent list released by the county.

As everyone who orders a drink in Allegheny County probably knows, the county has a 7 percent alcoholic beverage tax in place.

Not all of the tax that's collected from customers makes it to county coffers on time. And so it periodically releases a list of liquor license holders who have failed to pay all or some of the alcoholic beverage tax due.

Among those on the list are two Bethel Park establishments that closed with outstanding tax liabilities: the Warehouse Cafe on South Park Road and JP's Bar and Grille on Library Road.

Prior to publishing vendors names on this list, the county has confirmed that each vendor is collecting the tax from its patrons but failing to pay the tax to the county. The county has attempted to collect the tax from each vendor listed through providing the rules and regulations and appropriate forms to the vendors in advance of the first monthly required return, according to the county treasurer's office.

Vendors who want to be removed from this list should contact the Allegheny County Special Tax Division at 877-893-7465. Only those who make a payment in full will be removed from this list.
