Wesley Spectrum Student Charged With Having Pain Pills in School

A student is facing a drug possession charge after police said he was found with three Tylenol with codeine pills at school on Jan. 19.

Zachary Michael Scalise, 18, of 70 Noblestown Road, Carnegie, waived his preliminary hearing to court on Monday.

According to the criminal complaint filed by , school staff reported Scalise was acting impaired, checked his wallet and discovered the pain pills. Scalise would not tell police how he acquired them. The pills were sent to a crime lab for a positive ID, according to police.

The case against Zachary Scott Jones, 24, of 2621 Rossmoor Dr., Upper St. Clair, was continued on Monday in 's courtroom.

Zachary Jones is facing one count of access device fraud and one count of possessing Adderall.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Upper St. Clair police, Zachary's brother, Christopher Jones, said Zachary took his debit card from his wallet on Dec. 24, withdrew more than $400 from his account without permission and slipped the card back into his wallet.

The complaint states that Zachary's mother, Elizabeth Jones, also told police Zachary stole 70 to 90 Adderall pills from his sister last month.

Waived to Court

Tricia Lynn Vavro, of 2782 Bertha St., Bethel Park, waived her preliminary hearing to court Monday.

Vavro is charged with two counts of retail theft and one count of criminal mischief.

employees reported to Upper St. Clair police that Vavro and Randy Oswald were shown on surveillance video Feb. 13 stealing clothing, jewelry and accessories from the store.

The criminal complaint stated the video showed Vavro placing numerous articles of clothing in a blue, plastic shopping bag. Vavro also placed jewelry from Sears on her wrist and damaged a watch while she was attempting to break it away from a security device, according to the complaint.

Police stated that when Vavro attempted to leave the store, the bag with the merchandise ripped open and the contents spilled to the ground. She then gathered the items, took a shopping bag from a register and placed the items in the new bag, according to the complaint.

Sears employees stated Vavro and Oswald ran from them when confronted. Bethel Park police arrested Vavro on Fort Couch Road.

Vavro has three previous retail theft charges, according to the criminal complaint.

Charge Dropped

Kathryn L. Smith, 23, of 210 10th St., Sharpsburg, pleaded guilty to one count of summary disorderly conduct on Monday.

A drug paraphernalia charge against her was dropped.

Upper St. Clair police reported Smith overdosed on drugs at a home located at 361 Ramada Dr., Upper St. Clair. She was transported to .

Two used syringes and four empty stamp bags with blue-and-red stars were found in the home following the overdose.
