Weapons Charges for Men Who Waved Down Police

Weapons Charges

Two men who waved down an Upper St. Clair Township police officer near the McMillan Road-Orr Road intersection at around 5 p.m. on May 31 are being charged with possession of prohibited offensive weapons, according to court documents.

The men—identified as Sean Paul Conley-Reifer, 21, of Victoria Drive in Brentwood Borough, and Jonathan C. Lyons, 20, of Bergman Street in Pittsburgh's Sheraden neighborhood—were asking the officer for directions to Bridgeville, according to court documents.

While speaking with Conley-Reifer and Lyons, the officer reported finding them to be nervous and slightly shaking. The officer also reported seeing a folded knife clipped to one of Conley-Reifer's belt loops.

The men were frisked by the officer and a fellow Upper St. Clair police officer. According to court documents, Conley-Reifer was found to be in possession of four Perfect Point throwing stars, and Lyons was found to be in possession of an ASP collapsible baton.

The items were confiscated by police, and both men were permitted to continue on their way.

Conley-Reifer's preliminary hearing before district Judge Robert C. Wyda on Monday was rescheduled for July 22. The same is true for Lyons'.

Retail Theft Charge Update

Thomas Allan Baily, 44, of Monongahela Township, PA, is charged with stealing $180 in tools from the Sears at South Hills Village in mid-January. Baily's preliminary hearing before Wyda in June was continued indefinitely.

On Monday, that hearing was rescheduled for Aug. 12, when Baily is expected to pay restitution for the theft.

He completed a retail theft class in June.
