Upper St. Clair Woman Pleads Guilty To Helping Convicted Felon Hide Assets
Elizabeth Jones faces five years in prison.
An Upper St. Clair woman will be sentenced in January for helping convicted felon Michael P. Carlow hide assets from the federal government.
Elizabeth G. Jones, 51, pleaded guilty Tuesday to conspiracy in a hearing before Judge David Cercone. As part of the plea deal, two counts of filing false tax returns and one count of failing to file a return will be dropped.
Jones and Carlow, 60, are accused of starting or controlling several companies that Carlow could use to hide his income. He was convicted in 1996 of bank fraud and tax evasion and ordered to pay the Internal Revenue Service $6.4 million dollars.
