The accused's preliminary hearing on Monday was waived for Allegheny County Court.

An Upper St. Clair Township police officer stopped a motorist near the Chapelwood Drive-Ashlawn Drive intersection for a traffic violation near the St. Clair Country Club on June 11, according to court documents.

The officer reported smelling alcohol and observing mumbled speech and glassy eyes while talking with the driver in question—Melissa Anne Makarczyk, 20, of Ogden Nash Drive in Moon Township—and placed Makarczyk under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol (underage), according to court documents.

Then, at the Upper St. Clair police station at around 11:55 that night, Makarczyk failed field-sobriety tests, the officer reported.
