Upper St. Clair Man Charged in Vehicle Theft

A 23-year old man is facing multiple charges.

Brian Sorce of Upper St. Clair waived his right to a preliminary hearing on theft charges after police accused him of stealing a Dodge Dakota from the Evangelista apartment complex in Bridgeville on Feb. 19.

According to the criminal complaint, Pittsburgh police arrested Sorce, 23, of 1274 Old Meadow Road, on Feb. 20 when officers found him standing next to the vehicle. Police said Sorce had the vehicle's registration card in his pocket and also possessed credit cards belonging to the victim, Ted Evangelista, and his wife. 

Police also accused Sorce of switching the pickup truck's license plate with another pickup truck's license plate after he allegedly stole the truck from Bridgeville.

Sorce is charged with two counts of theft by unlawful taking, one count of unauthorized use of automobiles and one count of receiving stolen property.

In addition, Upper St. Clair police charged Sorce in another theft case on March 9. Investigators accused Sorce of stealing two Carson City Morgan silver dollars from his mother's husband, George Belles, while they were out of town.

Police later discovered a man they believed to be Sorce sold the coins to a pawn store for $266. 

In that case, Upper St. Clair police charged Sorce with theft by unlawful taking and criminal mischief.
