PICS/VIDS: Upper St. Clair Hit Hard by Flooding (UPDATED)

Some residents are reporting flooded basements.

Flood cleanup is under way in Upper St. Clair Township.

A number of residents report flooded basements and downed trees after Wednesday's two rounds of heavy rain and strong winds. Air Science Consultants told township officials Upper St. Clair got two inches of rain on Wednesday morning alone.

Areas along McLaughlin Run, Hays and Painters Run roads experienced the most flood damage. 

More rain is forecasted for Wednesday evening. Public Works crews and Upper St. Clair firefighters are working quickly to clear catch basins, roads and other facilities in preparation.

An emergency alert issued by the township around 3:30 p.m. stated that areas along McLaughlin Run, Hays and Painters Run roads experienced the most flood damage. McLaughlin Run Road from Lesnett Road through Bridgeville Borough was closed for much of the day. Click here for powerful footage of the McLaughlin Run creek.

More than 600 West Penn Power customers in Upper St. Clair went without power for hours on Wednesday.
