Two Upper St. Clair DUI Cases Held for Court

held all charges for court Monday in two drunk driving cases.

Matthew Joseph Broderick, 28, of 246 Hays Road, , is charged with one count of driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance, an additional count of driving under the influence for having a high rate of alcohol in his system, one count of careless driving and one count of not having his vehicle registration.

found Broderick at Painters Run Road on March 6 after his car crashed into a utility pole.

According to the criminal complaint, Broderick told the officer he had six to seven beers prior to the accident.

Broderick was arrested and transported to for his blood to be drawn and tested.

The second drunk driving investigation involved Laura Jean Deitrick, 48, of 1632 Williamsburg Circle, Upper St. Clair.

Deitrick is charged with one count of driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to the criminal complaint, an officer found Deitrick's SUV stopped on Boyce Road Extension on Feb. 24. The officer stated the SUV then sped forward and to the left, hitting a traffic island and knocking over a stop sign. She then turned on Route 19, nearly hitting a curb, according to the officer.

When the officer pulled her over, she told him she had drunk two glasses of wine. Later she told the officer she had three glasses, according to the complaint.

The officer stated Deitrick performed poorly during the field sobriety tests.

She was placed under arrest and taken to St. Clair Hospital for blood to be drawn and tested.
