Swimmer Nearly Drowns at Settlers Cabin Wave Pool

A swimmer at the Settlers Cabin Wave Pool nearly drowned Sunday afternoon, but was resuscitated by rescuers.

A man who nearly drowned Sunday afternoon while swimming at is in critical condition, but expected to survive.

Lifeguards pulled the 23-year-old man from the water around 2 p.m. and performed CPR on him before he was taken by ambulance to a Pittsburgh area hospital, according to the media reports. His name was not released.

The pool, which is at Settlers Cabin Park in Robinson Township, was closed while Allegheny County police investigated, WTAE-TV reported on its website.

Allegheny County police Lt. Andrew Schurman said the victim is in critical condition, but expected to recover. He was conscious Monday morning and Allegheny County police detectives interviewed him about the incident.

The sprawling 1,610-acre park is split between Collier, Robinson and North Fayette townships.

A manager at the Settlers Cabin Wave Pool said he could not comment on Sunday afternoon’s incident.
