Remodeling Worker Charged With Stealing From USC Home

Correction: The article previously stated Shane Boley was an employee of Legacy Remodeling, Inc. According to President Jeff Moeslein, Boley was not an employee for Legacy Remodeling, Inc., but was working with subcontractor D.C. Mullins Construction. President of D.C. Mullins Construction, Dave Mullins, said Boley was never an employee with them and that he was a subcontractor.

The preliminary hearing for a former remodeling worker charged with stealing from an Upper St. Clair home was postponed Monday.

The defendant, Shane Boley, was taken to the hospital from the Allegheny County Jail due to a diabetic emergency.

Boley, 37, of 1420 Beechview Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15216, is charged with one count of burglary and one count of unlawful taking.

According to the criminal complaint filed by the Upper St. Clair police, the victims were having exterior remodeling work done on their Mohawk Road home. When they arrived home on Sept. 27, they noticed jewelry and money from a jar in a closet missing.

The complaint stated that police interviewed all people working on the remodeling of the home except for Boley, who did not want to talk to officers. Boley did not return to work with the company following the incident.

Boley's coworker, Matthew Bell, told police he went with Boley to the Gold Deposit kiosk in on Sept. 27 and used his identification card to sell the gold items, according to the complaint. Bell told the officer Boley indicated the jewelry was from his ex-girlfriend.

Bell also told detectives he accompanied Boley to and cashed coins valuing in $83.

Boley was a subcontractor for D.C. Mullins Construction, which was a subcontractor for Legacy Remodeling, Inc.

After Boley is released from the hospital, he must return to jail until his hearing.

The hearing for a former Sears employee charged with stealing cash from the register was continued on Monday.

Ryan Mitchell Casaday, 21, of 1005 Sheriffs Ct., McMurray, PA 15317, is charged with one count of theft by unlawful taking.

According to a criminal complaint filed by the Upper St. Clair police, Casaday is suspected of taking $1,110 in cash from the register from August to early September.

On Sept. 2 the complaint stated that a surveillance camera showed Casaday taking money from the register and putting it in his pocket.

The hearing for Casaday was continued for 90 days. said Casaday must pay restitution.

Casaday was hired by Sears in July 2011, according to the complaint.
