Nearby: Police Bust Prostitution Ring at Bridgeville Spa

Police and federal agents on Tuesday afternoon raided a Bridgeville spa accused of being at the center of a prostitution and human trafficking ring.

Three women were arrested and $2,733 in cash was seized from the 88 Spa on Route 50, Bridgeville police Chief Chad King said.

Police officers from Bridgeville, Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, and federal agents from the FBI and Immigration and Customs Enforcement raided the business shortly after noon Tuesday.

The spa located at the center of the borough’s business district across from the main parking lot was suspected almost immediately of being involved in prostitution when it opened in October 2011, King said.

“Pretty much right away we heard something was going on,” King said.

Neighboring business owners complained of the goings-on at the business, King said, but investigators had to get enough evidence before raiding the building.

“We had to be patient,” King said.

Three women were living in two rooms of the spa, King said. The building is not zoned as a residential property. Authorities also confiscated six tables in five massage rooms, along with other evidence.

They also found a large amount of cash stashed away in two secret containers.

King said they are continuing to investigate and more people will probably face charges.

“We’re going to hold everyone accountable who we believe knew what was happening,” King said.

Members of the borough's public works crew could be seen removing massage tables from the spa and dismantling signs in the front and back of the building.
