Man Kills Himself at St. Clair Hospital

No hospital members were injured in Friday night shooting.

An 88-year-old Mt. Lebanon man who came to St. Clair Hospital apparently complaining of shortness of breath and nausea shot himself inside one of the hospital bathrooms.

The man, identified by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office as Milton Levine, arrived at St. Clair at 10:05 p.m. Friday and was taken to an examination room where he asked a nurse if he could go to the bathroom. The nurse took him to the bathroom and then heard a loud noise. The nurse found him dead inside.

St. Clair Hospital spokesman Rich Sieber said the man was in the hospital for less than seven minutes before the incident. He said the staff dealt with the situation responsibly and tried to keep the patients calm.
