Hearing for Man Accused of Huffing Before Driving Continued

The preliminary hearing was continued Monday for a Bethel Park man suspected of huffing "industrial strength aerosol duster" before crashing a vehicle in Upper St. Clair.

Upper St. Clair police stated in a criminal complaint filed in district Judge Robert Wyda's office that the vehicle Brian Keith Pfender, Jr., 20, was driving the night of April 4 crashed into a tree at the corner of McMurray and Southridge roads.

Pfender, Jr. is charged with one count of driving under the influence, one count of careless driving and one count of not wearing his seatbelt.

His hearing is now scheduled for June 17.

Judge Wyda also heard the following cases:

  • John Michael Dixon, 52, of Upper St. Clair is charged with stealing a bottle of vodka from Wine & Spirits. His hearing was continued to June 17.
  • Michelle Kinder, 36, of Carrick, is charged with stealing two Coach purses from Macy's. Her hearing was continued to June 17.
  • Derrica Lynae Smith, 20, of the North Side, is charged with stealing merchandise from Sears. She was taken into custody to be fingerprinted after not attending her scheduled fingerprinting. Her hearing was continued.
