Fire Destroys Couple's Home, Two Dogs Survive

Flames broke out while the homeowners were at work on Saturday morning.

A fire destroyed an Upper St. Clair house on Saturday morning.

The homeowners, Mark and Rebecca Thornsberry, were at work when the flames broke out around 11:30 a.m.

A neighbor along Dearment Parkway spotted the fire, immediately called 911 and then called the Thornsberry's to tell them their house was on fire.

"The police and firefighters got here in time to put out the fire before the whole house burned down," Mark Thornsberry said. "Everything inside is pretty much destroyed."

The Thornsberry's dog and Rebecca's brother's dog were inside the home when the flames sparked. Emergency crews were able to get to the house in time to save the pets.

"I think the dogs are kind of stressed out," Mark Thornsberry said. "But they're OK." 

The Thornsberry's plan to stay with friends until they can figure out what to do. Rebecca was out with friends on Saturday afternoon buying food and clothing. 

Fire investigators believe a faulty electrical outlet caused of the fire.
