Case Against Theft Suspect Held for Court

A remodeling worker is charged with stealing jewelry and coins from an Upper St. Clair home.

The criminal case against a former remodeling worker charged with stealing from an Upper St. Clair home was held for court on Monday.

Shane Boley, 37, of 1420 Beechview Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15216, with one count of burglary and one count of unlawful taking.

According to the preliminary hearing testimony, Boley is accused of entering a home on Mohawk Road through an unlocked door while he was working as a subcontractor for D.C. Mullins Construction.

One of the victims testified that he and his wife discovered the next morning, on Sept. 28, that pieces of gold jewelry and their jar of change were missing from their bedroom.

One of Boley's coworkers, Matthew Bell, testified that on the day Boley is accused of stealing from the house, Boley asked for a ride home and requested to make stops at the mall and at .

Bell said Boley exchanged a ball of gold jewelry for cash at the Gold Deposit kiosk inside and dumped a lunch pail of change in the change machine at Giant Eagle.

Boley is pleading not guilty to the charges. His public defender asked district Judge Robert Wyda to reduce Boley's bond. refused because he said Boley has been arrested 15 times and has three failures to appear in court.

Boley will remain in the Allegheny County Jail until his next court appearance scheduled for Dec. 20 at the Allegheny County Courthouse.
