The Denigration of Opulent Heinz Hall
When one thinks of Heinz Hall for the Performing Arts, an opulent, elegant jewel of a facility comes to mind: a unique structure with high ceilings, magnificent crystal chandeliers, rich red carpeting, and gold trim throughout, a place which is the home of our world-renowned Pittsburgh Symphony.
That image will crash and burn when the facility is commandeered on January 11, 2014 by "entertainer" Larry the Cable Guy, the hillbilly comedian best known today as a pitchman for a dangerous over the counter medication which purportedly remedies indigestion.
I suppose the facility, in a bid for revenue at all costs, has set aside the "Performing Arts" component of its name. The late Henry. J. Heinz surely weeps.
