Kenny Chesney and His Troupe to Skip Touring in 2014 - A Break for Pittsburgh

The best news Pittsburgh has received in a long time is that Kenny Chesney and the band of inebriated rabblerousers that he attracts will not infest the North Shore next year.

Let me first emphasize that I do not seek to paint with a broad brush.  Most of the Chesney fans no doubt are good people that behaved like the civilized human beings that they are.  Many, however: too many, were beastly, their alcohol-fueled activities criminal.

I cannot think of a better formula for disaster than to invite a rowdy bunch to partake of day-long tailgating and consumption of alcohol.

There is a threat that the Chesney troupe will return to Pittsburgh beginning in 2015.  I would hope not, but at least there is a one-year respite from the debauchery, another year for those who profit from this event to determine how to make it less detrimental to the city.  It is their duty to do so, not to look the other way as they line their pockets with gold.

I pity the police officers and those that had to clean up the massive pig sty.  These people are human beings that should not have been subjected to such extraordinarily challenging conditions.
