Steubenville High School Rapists Receive a Tap on the Wrist as Punishment

Injustice in the Light Sentence of Two Young Savages

While it is gratifying that the 16-year-old and 17-year-old Steubenville High School thugs that raped, savaged, and degraded an intoxicated 16-year-old girl were found delinquent (guilty) by a judge, it is tragic that they will receive no more than a brief term of incarceration, our criminal-coddling juvenile "justice" system permitting them to be held in custody only until they reach the age of 21 at most.

Children do not have the ability to reason that mature adults do and most of us engage in foolish actions in our youth.  What these boys did, however, was so outrageous and criminal as to be an egregious violation of the tenets of basic human decency and civilization.

Naturally, the defense, without apparent shame, sought to prevail by attacking the victim, portraying her as a known liar.  It was not necessary for her credibility to be judged, though, because the evidence was so overwhelming through myriad incriminating text messages, statements, and photographs which sealed the fate of the perpetrators.

Others that are associated with this atrocity have much for which to be ashamed of as well, including those that photographed the unconscious girl naked and the evil character that laughingly mocked her and the incident in a commentary which gained notoriety for its outrageous and offensive nature through YouTube.

If there was a cover-up in order to protect members of the high school football team, it must be penetrated.  All those that played an unlawful role in this incident must be brought to justice, however tepid that justice will turn out to be, and those that engaged in acts of hate which fell below the standard of criminality should be shamed.

When the delinquents/degenerates emerge from prison in a short period of time, they will likely continue to be the menaces to society that they are today.  They deserve for their lives to be as shattered as the life of their victim has been.  They are getting off far too easy.
