State GOP's Hypocrisy Shines Through Once Again

Democratic State Representative Matt Smith is tarred by the GOP for doing what some of its own members do.

In today's (Oct. 17) daily mail hit piece against State Senate candidate Matt Smith, the haters of the Republican Party of Pennsylvania have outsmarted themselves.

Representative Smith is tarred as follows, "He likes being there (in Harrisburg) so much he's running for two offices at the same time," as if such a dual candidacy disqualifies one from elective office. So, then, is the GOP going to criticize and consider unfit for higher office all of those that are running for two offices simultaneously? Will it decline to endorse Republican State Representative John Maher, who is running for re-election to his House seat AND to be State Auditor General? Will it condemn GOP Vice-Presidential candidate Paul Ryan, who is seeking re-election to his U.S. House seat and to be Mitt Romney's Vice President?

Of course the State Party will place its imprimatur on Maher and Ryan while hoping that the electorate is stupid enough not to recognize that it in seeking two posts in the same election, Democrat Smith is doing precisely what some Republicans do.  Will the GOP get away with insulting our intelligence and pandering to the worst in us? Perhaps it will.
