Operation Rescue Founder Smears the President

Television spot tars those who would consider a vote for President Obama.

In the latest manifestation of this putrid election season, anti-abortion activist and Operation Rescue founder Randall Terry appears in a local television spot which is designed to encourage the defeat of President Obama. He addresses the viewer after a woman awakens in a cold sweat which she endures over the prospect of another term for the president, telling us, "If you vote for Obama, you will have innocent blood on your hands (an obvious reference to the president's pro-choice position)." The only thing missing was photographs of aborted fetuses. Perhaps that will be next.

It is interesting to note that as governor of liberal Massachusetts, Mitt Romney, was pro-choice. His current position, at least as he represents it, is anti-abortion. He will have no influence on the issue as president unless and until he were to appoint one or more Supreme Court justices that would be inclined to overturn the Roe versus Wade decision, and in the current hyperpartisan environment, it is possible that the Senate Judiciary Committee, which is likely to be controlled by Democrats in the next Congress, would not approve a nominee that is known to be virulently anti-abortion.

I know an individual who refers to "the anti-abortion wacko movement." I do not see it that way at all. I have great respect for those who see all abortion as the taking of an innocent life and abortion is never a happy event for anyone. I do not respect an individual like Randall Terry, whose tactics are beyond the pale.

Primarily because of his support for larger, more expensive government and massive borrowing which we cannot afford, I will not be voting for President Obama on Nov. 6, but a wretched and hateful television spot such as that which was produced by Randall Terry renders the president a sympathetic figure as well as serving to illustrate what a dirty, rotten business politics is.
