Glenn Beck Goes off the Rails—Again

Beck Edict That Staff Members not Mention President Obama Reflects Engrained Hatred and Resentment

I suppose conservative firebrand Glenn Beck concluded that he needed to do something notorious in order to jump back into the media spotlight, hence he has issued a bizarre edict that any staff member that mentions President Obama on his show will be fired. Beck is and has long been an embarrassment to those that wish to engage in reasoned, logical, civil debate of legitimate issues. Let us recall that this is the man that suggested in 2009 that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) was setting up concentration camps to intern Americans, just one of his "whoppers." He demonstrates why the Republican Party is often successfully portrayed as being the home of haters, the irrational and extremists.

I make these commments about Mr. Beck not out of any affection for President Obama (oops: sorry, Mr. Beck), but in an effort to be objective and fair, recognizing that our president is the leader of all of us whether we like it or not, and that only one that is consumed with hatred and resentment would suggest that he not be mentioned.

I did not vote for President Obama in 2008 or 2012 and find abhorrent his view that government should provide cradle to grave care, a posture which we cannot afford, and which is rapidly bringing the nation to the brink of insolvency as the ability to write checks with borrowed money approaches an end.

Glenn Beck is a perfect illustration of the reason I feel obligated to offer explanation when I tell friends and acquaintances that I am a registered Republican.
