Does this Area Have a Serious Problem with Illegal Drugs?

Acquaintance Asserts a Monumental Illegal Drug Problem Exists Under our Noses - Is it True?

The informed, well-connected owner of a local business that I patronize recently told me something which I found stunning.

The individual asserts that heroin is now available locally for $10 per "hit," and that Upper St. Clair and Peters Township have a drug problem that is more prevalent than any other area in the country, a phenomenon which the businessperson chalks up to parents providing their children money that they spend irresponsibly and recklessly.

Any illegal drug use phenomenon is not apparent as this area does not have street-corner, open air selling of narcotics nor gun battles over drug debts.

I would be interested to know the experiences and thoughts of others on this important matter.  Do you believe there is a serious drug problem in these upper middle class communities? If so, on what basis?
