Boehner the Coarse

The "Distinguished" House Leader Uses Vile Hate Speech to Get His Points Across - A Disgrace to the Nation

In his latest strike against civility, our irrepressible U.S. House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner publicly stated that the House will not be taking up the matter of the “sequester”  for a third time before the Senate “gets off their ass and passes it once.” I would first note Boehner’s grammar deficiency. The grammatically correct crude and coarse statement is, before the Senate “gets off its ass and passes it once.”

Boehner also recently boasted about telling Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, “go ---- yourself”, and has referred to Democratic-inspired legislation as “chicken crap”: what a lovely example to put forth for impressionable students of government.  Perhaps Boehner’s vile insult delivered to Leader Reid was inspired by a similar attack from then Vice President Dick Cheney against Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy.

We often rail against the lack of comity in the halls of today’s Congress, which is a prominent factor in precluding the work of the people from being accomplished.  John Boehner is at the forefront of the hostility and ungentlemanly behavior, more suited to being a warrior of the streets than a reputable leader. Vice President Joseph Biden has used offensive profanity, but I know of no instance in which the president has been quoted as responding to individuals like Boehner in kind or seeking to insult others in such crude fashion. Speaker Boehner and his lack of dignity and self-control serve to render his opponents sympathetic figures and to bring dishonor to the important position he holds. The Speaker is a disgrace to American government.
