Attorney General Kane Bucks the National Rifle Association - Rare Courage

"Florida Loophole" is Finally Closed by the State's Top Law Enforcement Officer - Bravo!

I am glad that I crossed party lines to vote for Kathleen Kane for State Attorney General as she is a rare state official that is willing to buck the National Rifle Association in pursuit of public safety.

General Kane has wasted no time since being inaugurated last month in invalidating the "Florida loophole", which had permitted an individual that had been denied or been subjected to revocation of a concealed carry permit in Pennsylvania to secure one from the state of Florida which Pennsylvania was obligated to honor: no more. Our law enforcement leader has indicated that overturning the Florida loophole is not the end of her pursuit of reasonable restrictions on the ability of virtually any individual to secure an arsenal of the most lethal weapons, often without a background check.  I regret that Governor Corbett had no problem with the loophole, declining to use his bully pulpit to accomplish what Kathleen Kane did so quickly and easily.

No doubt the NRA will be gunning for General Kane, seeking to influence/pressure her, and working to defeat her if and when she seeks re-election in 2016.  If she continues to be driven by the pursuit of public safety and what is right, she should continue to be as popular as she is today and able to fend off a challenge from those that believe we are safer when our streets are flooded with guns.
