Alert for Indian Food Lovers!

New Indian Restaurant Graces the Region's Culinary Scene: Top-Notch!

I do not know how much interest in Indian cuisine exists around Upper Saint Clair, but for those that join me in a love of this unique style of cooking, I have good news, a great new restaurant for those that do not mind a bit of a drive!

All India opened March 27 at 315 North Craig Street, Oakland, between Centre Avenue and Baum Boulevard (full information about it is on Facebook). I have dined there three times, believe it or not, and my wife and I consider this to be one of the premier local Indian restaurants.

The establishment is owned and operated by the master of local Indian food, Didar Singh, who operated India Garden for many, many years, and who has been in the business for a quarter century.  All India is attractive, spacious, and comfortable.

There is complimentary parking for only two or three cars at the door off the street.  There is generally not much trouble finding a parking space on Craig Street close to the restaurant.

The restaurant is closed Mondays, offers a lunch buffet every other day and a dinner buffet Thursdays and Sundays.

Until April 7, there is an extraordionary grand opening special: a ridiculously low $5 for the lunch buffet, $6 for the dinner buffet, and 20% off menu items.

Included in the buffet is a large number of items from salad to dessert, and including soup, two types of rice, side dishes, and entrees, featuring chicken dishes.  My two favorite dishes were available on each of my visits: breaded cauliflower and aloo gobi (cauliflower and potato): Indian utopia.

All India is but steps from another Indian restaurant, Oakland fixture Tamarind.  I hope both can survive and thrive.

You are going to like All India!
