A Unified Ahmadinejad and Morsi = Trouble
Iranian and Egyptian Leaders Embrace Figuratively and Physically - Let the Civilized World Beware
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad recently made the first visit of an Iranian leader to Egyptian soil in 34 years. The physical and emotional embrace and red-carpet welcome afforded him by Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi should send chills up and down the spines of members of the civilized and free world as it would appear that the nations are in the process of mending fences.
Certainly any influence exerted by the Holocaust-denier, hater of Jews and gays, and dangerous saber-rattling Iranian president will be to pull Egypt further away from the ideological sphere of the United States and the west.
It is important to note that despite the hatred and contempt expressed for Jews and our Israeli allies by President Morsi, Egypt continues to be a nation to which we provide massive aid and materiel, including F-16 fighter jets. As a realist, I must wonder how long it will be before our military aircraft are used against us, Israel, or some other nation that is a genuine friend to the United States. When the dirty hand of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is extended and grasped by any individual on the international stage, it is likely that mischief will ensue.
