'What is a Threesome?' Jeopardy Answer Becomes Viral Hit

The Upper St. Clair graduate tells viewers, 'Don't judge until you've been there.'

An graduate is speaking out about the risque answer she gave on Jeopardy! Thursday night.

The clue read as follows: "If Andy yearns for Brenda and Brenda cares about Charlene who pines for Andy, the three of them form one of these."

guessed, "What is a threesome?"

The crowd laughed, host Alex Trebek gave a drawn-out "Mmm...no" and an embarrassed Spak slapped her forehead.

The correct response was "love triangle," which contestant Roger got correct.

Trebek then said to the camera, "Kara has obviously had much more experience than I."

"I don't think the answer was totally off base," Spak told Upper St. Clair Patch on Friday afternoon. "I was kind of embarrassed that I said 'threesome' on TV and in front of my mom in the audience."

To add to the humor, Trebek called Spak a "saucy wench" during the following commercial break.

"I'd like to add that I'm a personal believer, and practice, monogamy," Spak said.

Spak's Jeopardy! response has become a viral hit—getting thousands of YouTube hits. In addition, the clip was reportedly featured on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" and the 96.1 Kiss Freak Show in Pittsburgh.

Spak wants everyone to know that being on Jeopardy! isn't as easy as it looks.

"Don't judge until you've been there," Spak said.

Spak graduated from Upper St. Clair High School in 1992. She went to for grade school. Currently, she lives in Chicago and is a general assignment reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times. Spak travels back to Pittsburgh about four to five times a year to visit her mother, who now lives in Mt. Lebanon.

Spak first appeared on Jeopardy! last year. She was invited back for the "Tournament of Champions" in August and taped the show in September.

Spak ended Thursday's game coming in second place with $6,012. Viewers can find out Tuesday at 7 p.m. if it's enough for Spak to advance with a wild card spot.
