Snow Day!!!

With all the problems winter can cause, a snow day is still one of my favorite things!

There truly is something magical about waking up to a landscape blanketed with snow.

I just got a text from my daughter-in-law with a video of my son skiing down the road at their apartment near State College. A big snow like we just had brings out the kid in most of us even though for many adults, snow simply equals shoveling.

If your schedule allows you to hibernate and you have milk in the fridge and food in the pantry, then enjoy the unexpected break from your routine. Put a fire in the fireplace, read the book that you never get to read, make cookies, or better yet, like my daughter-in-law did, use that cookie sheet as a sled. If you have to go out, shoveling can take the place of your spinning class.

Finally, instead of cursing the shovel as it gets caught in every crack, throw caution to the wind, grab a handful of really clean-looking snow and take a taste. While it melts on your tongue you will recapture the memories of snow days, sledding and hot chocolate with mini-marshmallows. Going out to shovel!
