Proud of Our Country!

What an exhilarating feeling to go to the polls!

It’s a particularly clean smelling, sunny fall day and I just got back from the polls.

This has been such a contentious election that at times it has felt like a modern day version of the civil war, with neighbor against neighbor, even brother against sister.

Many of the things we try to teach our children about getting along with each other have been ignored by the “adults.” Signs of both presidential candidates have been stolen from yards or destroyed. We have been inundated by ads, phone calls, coverage and predictions. It has been downright exhausting.

I have no illusions that everything will magically be ok when the election is over. I just want everyone to come out of their polling place today to reflect on the experience and feel the pride of being an American.
