Did You Ask if I Have Any Pictures Of My Granddaughter?

It's everything I was told it would be. I'm pretty sure I'm going to like being a Grandma!

I didn’t drop off the face of the earth…I just entered the uncharted territory of grandma-hood, revolving around a tiny human being named Adeline.

I was fortunate enough to see my granddaughter the night she was born through the window in the hospital nursery. Seeing her with her daddy, my oldest son, was an incredible moment of pure joy. My daughter-in-law ended up having a c-section, so she was in the recovery room, completely exhausted and being attended to by the hospital staff.

It was very apt that Adeline was born at Mt. Nittany Medical Center since both of her parents are proud Penn State alumni. The view of “happy valley” from their hospital room seemed to be saying “We Are” to the newest addition to the Penn State family.

Adeline went home the next day to a warm and inviting house prepared for her arrival. From my vantage point, everyone took to their new roles with ease. My son was so relaxed and ready to dive right in, even changing diapers in the hospital. Of course there are no words to convey the pride and love he obviously felt for the new woman in his life and her mommy. Despite any pain or uncertainty she may have been experiencing, when my daughter-in-law held Adeline with a natural tenderness, it looked as if they’d know each other forever. And saying goodbye was much easier than it might have been, knowing that they would be in the most capable of hands, my daughter-in-law’s mom.

I won’t say I’m retiring from this blog, but my posts will be erratic, at best. You see, I am a grandma now!!
