USC Scores Six Times in Shutout Victory Over CV

Bogan records hat trick; Wilhelm, Belack and Erdman score.

The last time that the USC girls soccer team played Chartiers Valley, it took longer than 79 minutes (in an 80-minute game) to score the only goal to go on to win 1-0. It was a much different story Monday night, when Hannah Wilhelm took a nice pass from Hannah Zangara and scored less than 12 minutes into the game.

A minute later, Carley Bogan scored again for USC, assisted by Ellie DiNardo.

The Panthers scored four more times in the second half. Bogan tallied two more goals to complete her hat trick. Olivia Belack scored with a rifled shot from over 30 yards out. Freshman Brianna Erdman scored her first goal as a Panther off a corner kick. Assists were collected by Belack, Megan Hindman and Dinardo.

After the first goal, the Panthers took over the game. Bogan showed explosive speed, getting by defenders almost at will. The ball handling and hustle of Zangara, DiNardo, Wilhelm, Belack, Sammi Witsberger, Katey Woistman, Abbey DeIuliis and Megan Hindman in the middle was just too much for CV. The defense was rock-solid (Val Repischak, Kristen Walczak, Kelsey Rogers and Sami Lackner). Goalkeeping was solid as well with fine saves made by Jocelyn Alfera. Megan Veglia also put in some excellent minutes giving Bogan a rest up top.

By the end of the game, coach Dave Gray was able to put in many of his players with Addie Brown, Jackie Pion, Rebekah Walsh, Abbie Schuster, Ashley Lahr, Colby Foster, Emily Elliott and Sarah McMurtry all seeing action and playing quite well.  Ellie Blake did not play due to injury (get better soon).
