Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra concert

Join the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra as its 2012-2013 season of “Tell Me a Story” continues at 7:30 pm on Saturday, January 26 at the Upper St. Clair High School Theater, 1825 McLaughlin Run Road in Upper St. Clair.  This concert features the different sections of the orchestra as they each tell their own unique stories.  From Celtic folk melodies to a haunting French harp, Slavic allegiances to Spanish passion, and finally an Italian overture of love gone horribly wrong—all of these stories are told in this concert.

The strings will perform Gustav Holst’s popular St. Paul’s Suite and then will  accompany harpist Rebecca Pfingstl for Debussy’s Sacred and Profane Dances.  Dvorak’s Serenade for Winds features 10 wind instruments plus a cello and string bass.  The PCO brass will showcase Martin Jose Rodriguez Peris’ Three Pieces for Brass Octet. The evening will conclude with perhaps the greatest love story of all time, Tchaikovsky’s thrilling Romeo and Juliet overture.
