Upper St. Clair Mother Charged After Underage Drinking Party

Officers found more than 20 juveniles at a party with alcohol, according to a criminal complaint filed by Upper St. Clair police.

Police charged an Upper St. Clair mother with selling or furnishing alcohol to minors and corruption of minors after officers received an underage drinking party complaint on July 27.

According to the criminal complaint filed with district Judge Robert Wyda, police found more than 20 juveniles, half full and empty cases of beer, and a marijuana pipe in the yard of 2625 Sunnyfield Drive, the home of Cynthia M. Simpson, 47.

The complaint stated Simpson was in physical control of the property and was "wide awake." She denied knowledge of the party and told police she provided orange soda for the party, none of which police could find on the property.

Police stated in the complaint that Simpson's 16-year-old son admitted to hosting the party with friends.

Simpson is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 29.
