Upper St. Clair is Under a Tornado Watch

The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for Allegheny County and most of southwestern Pennsylvania.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for Allegheny County and most of southwestern Pennsylvania on Wednesday afternoon. The tornado watch does not expire until 10 p.m.

A special weather statement issued around 3 p.m. said the showers and isolated thunderstorms heading toward Pittsburgh can produce wind gusts of 55 mph which can result in broken tree limbs, flying debris and possibly power interruptions.

The showers and thunderstorms with heavy rainfall are expected to continue through Wednesday night. Rainfall amounts over one inch per hour are possible and would produce flash flooding.
