Report: Pittsburgh Airport Restaurants a Hotbed for Food Safety Violations

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette review of 19 restaurants in Pittsburgh International Airport found that together they were issued 270 critical violations during the past two years.

The McDonald's in the center core received the most critical violations—32. Some of the violations included undercooked hamburgers, holding food at unsafe temperatures and cross-contamination, according to the newspaper.

Seven "administrative" actions were also reportedly needed, which there were persistent problems. The Nature's Kitchen in the center core and in Concourse D each received two administrative actions, the Subway in Concourse A and in Concourse B received one administrative action each, and the Quiznos Sub received one administrative action, according to the report.

The T.G.I. Friday's in the center core and the T.G.I. Friday's Pub in Concourse D were the only places with no issues in the report. The T.G.I Friday's Cafe in Concourse A received two non-critical violations.

Bar Symon, The Burg Sportz Bars and Bruegger's Bagels do not yet have inspections on file at the Allegheny County Health Department.
