New Store in Upper St. Clair Focuses on Pet Health

Healthy Pet Products had its grand opening on Saturday.

Healthy Pet Products customers no longer have to travel to the North Hills to find natural food, supplements and treats for their dogs and cats. Owner Toni Shelaske opened a second store in Upper St. Clair.

The store opened its doors at the end of October and held its grand opening on Saturday. Already the store is "doing very well," Shelaske said.

"I'm passionate about what I feed pets," she said. "I have loyal customers because of my products and knowledge."

Shelaske said her knowledge comes from her years of owning a pet-sitting business. She became aware of the common health afflictions in the pets she was taking care of and began researching. The root of the problem, in most cases, was what the animals were eating, she said.

Since then, Shelaske said she has helped many dogs and cats overcome irritable bowel syndrome and allergies, among other ailments.

"I have a good reputation," Shelaske said. "I want to spread the word about how natural pet food can make a difference."

Some pet owners may argue that it's just too expensive to feed their pets all natural foods and treats. Some natural products can be more expensive, but Shelaske said she tries her best to come close to grocery store prices.

She also reminds pet owners that dogs and cats will eat less of the natural products because they contain less fillers.

Bones and pet toys are also available for purchase at Healthy Pet Products.

The store is located in the former LA Weight Loss store, next to Model Cleaners, in the Crossgates Plaza located at Washington and Fort Couch Roads.
