Five Local Businesses Selling Steelers Treats

Cakes, cookies and pizza pies: See the area businesses selling black and gold specialties.

With Valentine's Day quickly approaching, stores would normally be selling all things red and pink. Not this year. Everywhere you go, all you see is black and gold. Here are five local businesses featuring black and gold specials and treats as the Steelers prepare for Super Bowl Sunday.

1. Bethel Bakery
Bethel Bakery was bumping on Thursday afternoon. Customer after customer walked through the door to pick up orders and peruse the shevles of goodies.

"When the hometown team goes to the Super Bowl, it becomes another major holiday for us," owner John Walsh said. "There isn't one office that's not having a Steelers party tomorrow (Friday)."

Bethel Bakery took Upper St. Clair Patch behind the scenes, to see the Steelers treats the more than 70 employees were baking up. It was a sweet tooth's paradise!

The terrible towel cookie is always a customer favorite. Bethel Bakery is the only bakery licensed by the Allegheny Valley School to sell the cookie. Twenty percent of every cookie sale goes to fun the programs at the school designed for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

"It's Pittsburgh helping out Pittsburgh, which was part of the legacy Myron Cope left," Walsh said.

Other popular items for sale this Super Bowl week include the Lombardi Trophy no cut cake (featuring 24 cupcakes under the frosting) and the Steeler tossel cap mini cakes.

For the very first time, Bethel Bakery will sell their goods a second venue. The famous bakery of the South Hills will have a booth set up at the Pittsburgh Public Market in the Strip District on Saturday. Items on sale will include the gingerBEN man, in honor of Steelers quarterback Ben Rothlisberger, of course. The sale begins at 9 a.m.

2.
From cookies of all sorts, to cupcakes of all sizes, The Pie Place is another tasty choice to buy your Steelers goodies. Co-owner Julie Cobb Accamando said they plan to bake up loads of goodies on Friday night before the anticipated Saturday rush. Business picks up at The Pie Place when the Steelers can make it to the Super Bowl.

3. Giant Eagle Market District - South Hills
Black and gold decorations and food items have taken over the Giant Eagle Market District in Bethel Park. Walk through the first set of sliding doors and you will see a giant Coca-Cola display that spells out "Go Steelers." Many bakery items feature black and gold sprinkles, and there is a terrible towel tied to every freezer door handle. Steelers fans could easily buy all their Super Bowl party needs in one stop at this Giant Eagle.

4. A Basket of Pittsburgh, , is featuring a promotion in honor of the Steelers having the chance to win their seventh Super Bowl. Use their website to order one of seven specialty baskets at a seven dollar discount.

5.
StonePepper's is ready for Super Bowl Sunday. The Upper St. Clair restaurant is having the following specials:

- $1.00 off all domestic beers, house wines and well liquors from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- 5-16 oz. Coors Lights in a bucket for $15
