Founder and CEO of HDS Marketing Howard Schwartz, of Upper St. Clair, has been named as a finalist for the western Pennsylvania and West Virginia region of Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year award program.
Recognized as one of the most prestigious business award programs in the country, the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award celebrates the country’s most innovative business leaders. This year, the award program received submissions from over 1,700 nominees from across the country. The award recognizes men and women who take the standard of excellence and achievement to new heights.
The Entrepreneur of the Year award program is now in its 27th year and the Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia region has participated in the program since 1986; claiming two national winners in the past.

Schwartz is one of 27 finalists from this region. This regional award will be presented at an awards gala that will be held on June 21 at the Wyndham Grand Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh. Each regional award winner is eligible for consideration for the National Entrepreneur of the Year Award which recognizes its winner at an awards gala in November.
"Through his leadership and business savvy, he has been able to propel HDS into the top 1 percent of corporate-branded merchandise distributors in the country, making him the perfect candidate to showcase the HDS brand to a national audience," the HDS spokesperson stated in a news release.

Brad Childs, executive vice president of Eyetique, is another Upper St. Clair businessman up for the award.
