Bank of America is closing its Upper St. Clair Township mortgage call center by the end of September and laying off the 209 employees that work at the Boyce Road location, according to the Pittsburgh Business Times.

A spokesperson told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that the company has fewer than half of the number of customers that it did in 2011 who need the specialized programs and support that the team in Upper St. Clair provides.

The spokesperson told the Pittsburgh Business Times that the company would provide career counseling and support for the laid-off employees.

The facility employed more than 300 people at one time, according to the Trib.

The mortgage servicing unit handles calls from homeowners with delinquent mortgages.
