Flash Flood Watch Issued for Allegheny County

The watch expires on Thursday morning.

By Amanda Gillooly

Last week, residents of Allegheny County were put on alert because of poor air quality.

Last night (Tuesday, June 25), the National Weather Service in Moon Township issued a severe thunderstorm warning.

Today, the weather service has issued a flash flood watch for several counties, including Allegheny.

The watch expires on Thursday morning.

Here's what the weather service is reporting on its website:

"Many areas in the flood watch received heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours. Another round of thunderstorms with heavy rains in predicted to move through the region tonight. The soil is saturated in most areas and it will not take much more rainfall in a short period of time to cause flooding."
