Ask the Builder: Choosing The Right Home Design

Q: How do I go about picking a home design for my custom-built Paragon home?

A: Pick a lot first. Much of what your new home will be depends on where and how it sits on the lot.  Your builder can help show you how things will appear when everything is done.

 Ignore what the exterior looks like at first - you live on the inside of your house, so think of floorplan and function. A good builder can make the exterior look however you would like. We have many homes (such as the houses that are pictured) that were originally the same floorplan and are similar inside, but on the outside, have very different exteriors to suit the preferences and tastes of each unique client.

Also, when considering home design, ask yourself: What is the "gotta have it" lis. Break this down into must-have vs. really want. Go through your daily life and think about what you and your family will value the most.

 Consider how much outdoor living space you plan to have, and consider how much you actually need.  What do you desire? Ask the builder to stake out the home so you can see exactly how deep it will be on the lot.
