Reading Is Dee-licious!

Upper St. Clair Township Library launches its summer adult reading program with a tasty theme.

Reading used to be fun-damental. Now, it's dee-licious.

The Upper St. Clair Township Library Adult Reading Program launched this week with the theme Reading Is Delicious!, offering incentives for those who delve into books along with a variety of creativity sessions.

Residents who have completed ninth grade or higher are invited to participate by reading or listening to a book of their choice, available in the library or through the Allegheny County system.

Each book read means the opportunity fill out a prize ticket, with the chance to win prizes from fine area restaurants. Plus, the library gives a small gift to readers just for participating.

Meanwhile, the schedule of programs is as follows:

  • Beading with Anne Oyler, 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 12
  • Silk Painting with Colleen Miles, 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 14
  • Digital Cameras with Christine, 7 to 8:30 a.m.
  • Painting with South Arts, 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 26

As for the "Delicious" part of the overall program, that comes into play with an end-of-summer ice cream social at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at the McLaughlin Run Road Recreation Center. Writer and composer Jason Coll, founder of Frog Prince Theatricals Inc., will provide entertainment with a live performance.

Also during the social, drawings for the prizes will take place. Participants who attend the event will have an extra chance to win a prize.
