Emma Watson, Movie Shoot Creates Excitement in Upper St. Clair

Filming took place in the Deerfield Manor neighborhood on Thursday and Friday.

"Can you believe she's in our neighborhood?"

"I hope I get her autograph!"

Small crowds of neighborhood kids gathered in excitement on Friday afternoon, while the cast and crew of the movie, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, were filming in Deerfield Manor.

The children walked or rode their bikes from their homes in hopes of catching a glimpse of actress Emma Watson. And an autograph, if they were lucky. They were ready — with pictures, DVDs and sharpies in hand.

The actors' trailers were set up along Hollow Tree Drive. A shuttle was taking the cast and crew to and from the house being used for filming, located on Merry Oak Lane. The house is currently for sale and is listed for $1.9 million.

The director of the movie is Upper St. Clair native Stephen Chbosky. The movie is based on a novel he wrote, also titled The Perks of Being a Wallflower, about an introvert high school freshman who learns things about drug use, sex and suicide.
